Devlog #45

Good evening!

This week, I did a lot of writing. That had been a while, so I was starting to run out of finished scenes. Since the Lori scene is progressing steadily, I need to make sure I have other scenes ready to render as well.

This is the status of the writing (not rendering) now:

(As always, this represents the episode’s timeline, minute by minute. Each minute is color-coded based on what still needs to be done. Each block represents a scene in the game. This reflects only the writing, not the renders.)

All green scenes are fully written. That means everything is done script-wise, and I can start rendering them right away (some of them are already rendered). Fun fact: during rendering, I often end up adding small bits of dialogue, usually visual details that are hard to write beforehand because I’m not 100% sure how the scene will look yet. So the scenes will probably still grow a little during their rendering phase.

That's what's happening to the Lori scene now: although I mentioned in Devlog #40 that Lori wouldn’t have one huge scene this episode (but rather one small and two larger ones), it turns out this one’s becoming a huge scene anyway 🤷‍♂️ (it's the fifth block).

As for the red blocks: numbers 1, 2, 3, and 6 are already about 80–90% written. They just need some polishing. Only red blocks 4 and 5 still require significant script work (which is why they’re so short right now). But at the moment, that’s no longer a priority, since my scene reserve is more than full for the coming weeks.

I did a lot of non-rendering work over the past few weeks, but the Lori scene has progressed as well. There’s about one-third of the scene left to render.

Take care, and see you next week!
